You are always encouraged to contact the Alumni Office with any questions. For your convenience, we have listed the most frequently asked questions, and provided answers, below.

Giving

Q. How do I make a gift to the Alumni Association?

A. There are three ways you may make a gift to the Alumni Association. You may give online, you may mail a check to 1422 W. Peachtree St., NW, Atlanta, GA 30309, Attn: Barbara Chelikowsky, or establish a planned gift by contacting us at (404) 872-3593 ext. 287. Whatever manner you choose, we thank you for your continued support. For more information, contact Alumni Director Virginia Arnold at varnold@johnmarshall.edu or 404-872-3593 ext. 187.

Q. What funds can I give to?

A. Currently, the John Marshall Law School Alumni Association has the Annual Fund, and the following four scholarship funds: The Andy Crawford Fund, The Endowed Scholarship Fund; The Bobby Lee Cook Scholarship Fund; The Melissa Hamrick Scholarship Fund; and The John E. Ryan Endowed Scholarship Fund.  A description of each of the funds can be found here.

Q. Is the John Marshall Law School Alumni Association a not-for-profit organization?

A. Yes!  The John Marshall Law School Alumni Association is a not-for-profit organization created to benefit the law school, its alumni, and its students.

Q. Are contributions to the John Marshall Law School Alumni Association tax deductible?

A. Yes!  The John Marshall Law School Alumni Association is a Section 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, and all contributions to the Alumni Association are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Q. What are the benefits of giving to an Alumni Association scholarship fund?

A. By supporting these funds we provide scholarships to deserving students, we acknowledge the critical importance of giving back, we exemplify philanthropy for our students and community, and advance our school’s ability to compete with other schools around the nation.

Q. What is the minimum gift amount accepted by the Alumni Association?

A. The John Marshall Law School Alumni Association does not have an established minimum gift amount and will happily accept a monetary gift of any amount.

Q. I am a student on a limited budget. How can I help?

A. The John Marshall Law School Alumni Association understands that students are not often in a financial position to make a substantial monetary gift to one of its scholarship funds, and it encourages students to only donate an amount they are comfortable with.Indeed, it is not the amount of the gift that matters, but it is the tradition of giving that advances philanthropy for our students and community.

Students are encouraged to show their support for AJMLS by attending alumni events and functions; joining the official alumni Facebook and LinkedIn pages; and maintaining contact with the school after they graduate. John Marshall Law School Alumni Association

Q. Is the Alumni Association a not-for-profit organization?

Q. Is there a membership fee to join the Alumni Association?

A. There is no membership fee associated with being a member of the Alumni Association.  All graduates automatically become members of the John Marshall Law School Alumni Association at no cost.

Q. Who is the President of the John Marshall Law School Alumni Association?

A. The 2011-2012 President of the Alumni Association is Mike Moran (’97) of Law Moran, Atlanta, GA.

Q. How can I find out when and where alumni/AJMLS events are being held?

A. There are several ways to find out when and where alumni/AJMLS events are being held.  You can: join the official alumni Facebook Group; check the alumni calendar on the AJMLS website; visit the Alumni News and Events webpage; or you can contact Virginia Arnold, Alumni Director, at varnold@johnmarshall.edu or 404-872-3593 ext. 187. Transcripts & Records

Q. How do I request a copy of my transcript or other academic records?

A. To request a copy of your transcript or other academic records, please complete the Student Action Request Form located here. You can either fax the completed form to Cheryl Ferebee at 404-873-3802 or you can mail it to: Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School, Attn: Cheryl Ferebee, 1422 W. Peachtree St., NW, Atlanta, GA 30309.  Please be sure to include the pertinent fee with your mailed request.  Those choosing to fax their request can pay their request fee by obtaining a credit card authorization form from Cheryl Ferebee.

Alumni Services

Q. Where can I buy AJMLS alumni apparel, merchandise, and memorabilia?

A. Currently, AJMLS offers a limited amount of apparel through the SBA office on the first floor.  Hours of operation vary, and the selection of merchandise is limited based on availability.

Q. How do I get a free AJMLS Lifetime Google Email account?

A. If you are a graduate of AJMLS, you can obtain your free AJMLS alumni lifetime Google email account here.

Q. Does AJMLS provide its alumni access to Westlaw?

A. Yes!  AJMLS provides all alumni access to an Alumni Westlaw Terminal during the library’s open hours.  The Alumni Westlaw Terminal is located on the 4th floor near the circulation desk, and use of the terminal is on a first-come basis. For more information, contact the law library at (404) 872-3595, ext. 175.

Q. May alumni use the law library?

A. The law library is available to ALL alumni for both legal study and research during library open hours. A collection of practitioner-oriented treatises is located in the law library’s reserve area, and an Alumni Westlaw Terminal, located near the circulation desk, is available for all alumni to use.

Q. How do I get information about employment opportunities or suggest employment opportunities for other graduates and students?

The Alumni Board

Q. What is the AJMLS Alumni Board?

A. The Alumni Board is  a supportive body consisting of invited graduates of AJMLS  that assists in the advancement of both the school and the John Marshall Law School Alumni Association.

Q. How does the Alumni Board assist AJMLS and the Alumni Association?

A. The Alumni Board recommends to the Dean ways to develop alumni and community support for AJMLS and the Alumni Association and helps find ways to develop and promote alumni events and  activities.  The Alumni Board also assists in the solicitation, cultivation, and stewardship of external support for the Alumni Association and AJMLS.   The Alumni Board also requires its members to commit a reasonable level of financial support to the Alumni Association of at least $1,000.00 per term.
