Experiential Learning and Pro Bono Programs

ajmls-frequently-asked-questions

Welcome to Experiential Learning and Pro Bono Programs, your bridge between law school and the practice of law. Here you will find the resources to learn about the AJMLS externship program and how to get involved in the community through pro bono service. We look forward to helping you!

Experiential Learning – Externships

The Office of Experiential Learning & Pro Bono Programs manages the externship program. Externships or field placements provide you with the opportunity to integrate the theoretical knowledge learned in the classroom with the practical experience of on-the-job training. Unlike an internship, an externship allows you to receive academic credit for the education you gain outside of the classroom. The program is flexible and offers a variety of field placements to enhance your legal education as you gain practical experience and the confidence necessary to embark on a successful legal career.

Pro Bono Programs

The Office of Experiential Learning and Pro Bono Programs also manages the Pro Bono Program. This program is committed to serving the community and encourages student volunteering as a fundamental element of building a legal career. The AJMLS program offers formal pro bono programs but is mainly designed to allow students the freedom to find and volunteer for pro bono opportunities on their own.
