Job Placement Statistics
Like all ABA-accredited law schools, Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School is required to survey members of its most recent graduating class to ascertain their employment status. In February of each year, law schools report this employment data to the National Association of Law Placement (NALP), the non-profit education association for law schools and legal employers which oversees the annual employment survey. The data collected reflect the employment status of each law school’s graduates as of February 15. Law schools subsequently report this same employment data to the American Bar Association.
AJMLS was able to confirm the employment of 84.1% (111 out of 132) of its program completers who graduated September 1, 2010 through August 31, 2011 (the time period set forth by NALP). The job placement rate for these graduates, the program completers whose employment status was known, was 84.1%. This figure was calculated using the NALP formula for calculating job placement rate. Therefore, the 84.1% job placement rate was calculated by adding together all of the employed graduates (111) and then dividing by the number of graduates whose employment status we were able to confirm (132). In accordance with NALP guidelines, the number of employed graduates includes all employment positions, including legal and non-legal positions, permanent and temporary positions, full-time and part-time positions, and any positions funded by AJMLS.
In addition to those employed, 1.5% of our graduates were continuing their education full-time in a degree- or certificate-granting program.

To engage in the authorized practice of law in Georgia and most states and territories, an individual must pass a Bar examination and submit to a character and fitness examination. Prospective students should contact the Board of Bar Examiners for the State of Georgia (www.gabaradmissions.org) or the relevant licensing agency for any other state(s) in which you may be interested in practicing law, to determine the relevant state licensing requirements.
