AJMLS Alumna Inez Grant (‘91) Appointed Hall County Solicitor-General

-->

Inez Grant, a 1991 graduate of Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School (AJMLS), has built a legal career defined by service, adaptability, and full-circle success. Shortly after earning her J.D. and passing the bar, Grant began her career in public service at the Hall County Solicitor’s Office, where she gained hands-on trial experience.

I was able to build on what I learned at John Marshall in a trial training environment,” she recalls.

That foundation not only supported her early growth as a prosecutor, but also gave her the confidence to eventually open her own private practice, where she handled both civil and criminal matters.

Grant served as a front-line prosecutor for 17 years across Northeast Georgia, including roles as chief assistant solicitor in both Hall and Forsyth Counties. During that time, she helped establish Hall County’s Domestic Violence Taskforce, solidifying her commitment to community-focused legal service.

The education I received at John Marshall helped me to navigate both civil and criminal law,” she says,

crediting the school’s practical approach to legal education as instrumental throughout her evolving career.

After leaving prosecution to focus on her family, she launched a private practice in Hall County where she worked in domestic litigation, criminal defense, immigration law, and juvenile matters. She also serves as Solicitor for the City Courts of Gainesville and Oakwood, contributes to the State Bar’s Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee, and mentors students through mock trial coaching and the Brenau University Conflict Resolution and Legal Studies Advisory Board.

Now, in a defining career milestone, Grant has been appointed by Governor Brian Kemp as the Hall County Solicitor-General, returning to lead the very office where she began her journey as a young attorney.

It has been a long and winding road since graduating from John Marshall,” she reflects. “Like the song says, it does lead back to where you start…

Her appointment is not just a professional achievement; it’s a powerful reminder of the impact of dedication, experience, and a strong legal foundation. It also serves as an inspiration to aspiring attorneys who hope to make a meaningful difference in their communities. Join AJMLS in congratulating Inez Grant on this remarkable milestone.
