Career Highlights
Professor Brown rejoined the law faculty at John Marshall in 2022, after serving previously as a professor from 2009-2014. He is an expert in finance, commercial law and Black studies. Professor Brown has a bachelor’s degree from Morehouse College and a juris doctor from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He has served as a municipal government lawyer, been elected a real estate capital markets partner at an AmLaw 250 law firm, worked in the legal/compliance department of a global investment management firm and taught at historically Black colleges and universities.
Professor Brown’s research focuses on the legal structure of commercial relationships in Black communities, with a focus on mutual aid networks, Black identity and the Internet. His articles have been published in the New York University Journal of Law & Business, books and national publications.
Professor Brown will be teaching First Year Contracts and Negotiations.
