Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School (AJMLS) is pleased to welcome Dr. Justina Mason as the new Director of Student Programs and Support Services. Dr. Mason brings more than a decade of experience in higher education leadership, with a focus on designing intentional student experiences that combine academic rigor and meaningful engagement.

Dr. Mason has strengthened student success initiatives across public universities, graduate business programs, and medical education environments. Most recently, she served as Assistant Director of Graduate Student Engagement at the Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University. In that role, she enhanced the graduate student experience through innovative professional development initiatives and signature programming, including Robinson’s first Leadership Conference, a flagship event created to cultivate leadership skills, strategic thinking, and meaningful connections between graduate students and industry professionals. She also strengthened communication strategies, guided students through complex academic processes, and partnered with faculty and administrators to reinforce a culture of excellence within competitive graduate programs.

Prior to her work at Georgia State University, Dr. Mason served as Associate Director of Student Affairs at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in South Georgia. As a member of the founding administrative team for a new osteopathic medical school, she helped shape student affairs operations, contributed to accreditation efforts through the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation, and established policies and support structures designed to sustain long term institutional growth.

In addition to her institutional leadership, Dr. Mason serves as an Educational Consultant for Edify Consulting, where she partners with students, families, and organizations to provide academic coaching, strategic advising, and personal development guidance. Through this work, she extends her impact beyond campus and helps individuals navigate educational and professional transitions with clarity and confidence.

Dr. Mason earned her Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Management from Drexel University. She also holds a Master of Science in Sports Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Georgia State University. Her academic training sharpened her ability to align institutional strategy with student development, allowing her to lead with analytical insight and relational awareness.

Reflecting on her new role, Dr. Mason shared, “I am most excited about shaping the student experience at Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School, where the journey is as demanding as it is transformative. I look forward to creating programs, engagement opportunities, and support systems that help students not just survive but thrive academically, professionally, and personally. My goal is to create systems that anticipate student needs, foster confidence, and cultivate an environment where every student can approach challenges with resilience and purpose.”

When asked how her experiences influence her work, she explained, “Across every institution I’ve served, one lesson has been constant: students thrive when they feel seen, heard, and supported. Meaningful support is proactive, not reactive. It requires removing obstacles, clarifying expectations, and creating stability in environments where challenges can feel overwhelming.”

As she begins her journey with AJMLS, Dr. Mason wants the community to know that she is deeply committed to partnership and empowerment. “I am here to listen, learn, and partner with students, faculty, and staff to create meaningful, lasting impact. I believe leadership is about showing up fully, holding space for growth, celebrating successes, and addressing challenges with honesty and care.”

Outside of her professional work, she finds balance through ballet and gardening, embracing the discipline and patience required for growth. AJMLS welcomes Dr. Justina Mason and looks forward to the leadership, vision, and dedication she brings to the law school community.
