-->

On March 13, 2026, the John Marshall Law Journal at Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School (AJMLS) hosted its annual Law Journal Symposium in the Markovitz Lecture Hall.

This year’s program examined a central question in Georgia law: “The Georgia Tort Reform Act: Seismic Shift, or Inevitable Destination?” The discussion focused on the scope of recent reforms and their practical effects on litigation, liability, and access to the courts.

Editor-in-Chief Madeline Townsend and Executive Symposium Editor Kendice Armstrong opened the program with welcoming remarks, setting the stage for the panel discussion. Professor Joanna Apolinsky then served as moderator. Speakers included:

  • Professor Lee Adams, Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School
  • Professor Alison Prout, Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School
  • Jacob E. Daly, Senior Counsel, Freeman Mathis & Gary
  • Mike Moran, Attorney, Law & Moran Attorneys at Law
  • Professor Tia Gibbs, Georgia State University College of Law
  • Dean Pamela Wilkins, Associate Dean and Associate Professor, Mercer Law School

Professor Jeffrey Van Detta serves as the Faculty Advisor to the John Marshall Law Journal and provides ongoing guidance to the journal’s editorial leadership and programming.

The symposium is supported by Gorinshteyn & Watkins LLC, which established the Gorinshteyn & Watkins LLC Law Journal Fellowship. The fellowship provides financial support for the Law Journal’s general operations, funds a stipend for the Editor-in-Chief, and offers complimentary symposium registration to alumni. This support helps sustain the journal’s programming and expand opportunities for student leadership and professional engagement.
