Jayla Hill

President

Jayla Hill is a 3L and proud first-generation law student from Orangeburg, South Carolina. Throughout her time at AJMLS, Jayla has made a lasting impact on the community, notably by co-founding the Real Estate Legal Society and serving as its Vice President during the previous academic year. In this role, she helped lay the foundation for the organization’s success, coordinating events such as a transactional law panel featuring two real estate attorneys and an entertainment attorney who shared insights from their careers. In addition to her leadership in the Real Estate Legal Society, Jayla served as Secretary of the Black Law Students Association, where she worked diligently to foster effective communication between BLSA and its members. She also serves as a student ambassador for AJMLS, welcoming prospective students, leading tours, and offering encouragement as they embark on their legal education journeys.

Jayla’s commitment to public service was evident even during her undergraduate years, when she interned at the DeKalb County Public Defender’s Office and South Carolina Legal Services. Her commitment to public service continued during her law school career when she interned for the Probate Court in Conyers her 2L summer. Her professional interests lie in transactional law, with a particular passion for real estate law. Jayla aspires to use her Juris Doctor to mentor and inspire children from low-income communities, similar to the school system where she grew up.

She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Furman University, where she honed the critical thinking skills that now help her bring ideas to life and achieve her goals. In her free time, Jayla enjoys traveling, spending time with friends, and exploring new activities.

In her final year of law school, Jayla serves as President of the Student Bar Association, where she is dedicated to serving the student body and enhancing the student experience to help AJMLS continue to thrive.

Cristina Pavon-Baker

Parliamentarian

Cristina Pavon-Baker is a 2L from Atlanta, Georgia, with a strong commitment to serving her community through the law. She earned her undergraduate degree in International Affairs from the University of Georgia. As SBA Parliamentarian, she ensures that meetings run efficiently and in accordance with parliamentary procedure, promoting transparency and order in student government.

Cristina’s journey toward a legal career began in high school, when she interned with the Solicitor General’s Office. That experience ignited her interest in the justice system and led her to a subsequent internship with the Public Defender’s Office. It was there that she realized criminal defense was where her heart truly belonged.

While at UGA, Cristina also dedicated her spare time to volunteering at a local homeless shelter, deepening her understanding of the systemic challenges many individuals face—often the same ones who end up in the criminal justice system.

She currently serves as a LexisNexis Student Associate. In her spare time, Cristina enjoys spending time with family and friends, serving in her church’s kids ministry and trying new restaurants.

Cristina is excited to serve AJMLS as Parliamentarian and looks forward to supporting her peers and the student body through this role.
