SUMMARY:Charlotte E. Ray Legal Society’s Bridging the Gap Networking Mixer
DESCRIPTION:Charlotte E. Ray Legal Society (C.E.R.L.S) is a new student organization founded in the Spring of 2021. It is affectionately known on campus as CURLS. C.E.R.L.S is named after Charlotte E. Ray\, the first Black woman to become a lawyer in the United States. The mission of the organization is to increase the percentage of Black female attorneys in the United States\, and its primary goals are to increase the retention rate of Black female law students at Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School\, cultivate sisterhood\, produce enlightening legal programming\, and bridge the gap between Black female law students and the legal community. On March 20\, 2023\, in furtherance of its goal of bridging the gap\, C.E.R.L.S. will host a networking mixer for alumni and current students. The mixer is intended to allow students and alumni to meet and have engaging and meaningful conversations. It will also permit students to ask attorneys questions they might otherwise be unable to ask and will allow alumni to assist and give back to the next generation of lawyers and meet potential interns. \n
