Judge Bernstein joined the John Marshall Law School faculty in 2007 after more than ten years sitting on the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York (Long Island division), and over twenty years of practice of business bankruptcy law, secured transactions, and out-of-court debt restructurings. From 2000 through 2006, he also taught courses on bankruptcy law and secured transactions as an adjunct professor at Touro College of Law. He served as Associate Editor for both the American Bankruptcy Law Journal and the International Journal of Speech, Language and the Law. He has also published books, chapters, and articles, and has frequently delivered presentations at regional and national seminars on bankruptcy practice.
