Prior to joining the John Marshall Law School faculty in 2007, Professor Turner was Director of the Domestic Violence Project with the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation, a non-profit that coordinates free legal representation for low-income clients. She taught Domestic Violence Law at the Georgia State University College of Law as an adjunct, a position she continues to hold. Earlier in her legal career, she clerked for the Honorable Frank M. Hull, then a judge for the Fulton County Superior Court. Professor Turner next served as an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Atlanta’s Law Department and later as Assistant Regional Counsel for the Social Security Administration. She is a civil and divorce mediator, an arbitrator for the National Association of Security Dealers and a Guardian ad Litem. Professor Turner currently serves on the Fulton County Child Advocates Board, is a member of the Charles Weltner Family Law Inn of Court, and member and past president of the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys.
