Library Services for Alumni

Effective: 08/06/2010

The Audio-Visual Services (AVS) department provides service and support to the Atlanta's John Marshall Law School community for their teaching and multimedia presentation needs. The AVS department is primarily staffed by library personnel who report to the Head of Public Services in the Law Library.  The AVS department also works in conjunction with the Information Technology (IT) department who assist with unresolved, major technical issues.

The technical proficiencies of the AVS department are minimal, therefore issues of higher technical magnitude (lack of network connectivity to the internet, shared drives, computer malfunction, etc.) should be directed to the IT department.  We highly recommend you plan to arrive approximately 15 minutes prior to your scheduled event/class, to ensure the equipment is set and functioning according to your preference.  This also will allow AVS or IT to assist you prior to your event's start time in case of issues.
All classrooms are equipped with computers, LCD projectors, DVD/VCR combo units, and a sound system with the exception of the following rooms:

203, 203A, 703, 704, and all conference/board rooms

To accommodate these rooms, portable units are available to reserve. AVS has limited equipment available for immediate check-out, and will be available on a "first come, first served" basis.

Equipment Available for Use

  • Digital LCD projectors for computer and video
  • Laptops
  • Digital Video Cameras
  • Televisions

Equipment Reservation Information and Policies
  • AVS requires a minimum of 24 hours notice for all requests.   This will ensure your request is added to the AVS calendar and AVS personnel are available to assist you with setups
  • For special events (symposium, debates, simulcasts, etc.), AVS requires a minimum of 48 hours notice
  • Students wishing to use AV equipment must first get written approval from their professor, senior student organization officer(s), or other faculty/staff sponsor, and must give the proper notice based on the event type.
  • When using technology in the classrooms, please remember to return the equipment to the cabinet; set the mouse in the charger; log off of the computer system; and lock the cabinet before you leave the classroom.
  • Individuals that aren't immediate members of the law school community (i.e. vendors, special guests, consultants, etc.) that require access to AV equipment must make their request through the AVS department
  • Please notify the AVS department of any cancellations
  • Turnaround for audio and digital video recordings will depend upon the workload of the AVS department, and will be delivered in electronic format (emailed) or hard copy (DVD/CD).   Due to the limited staff, "rush" is not an option.
  • Copyrighted material will not be reproduced unless written permission is granted from the rightful owner to copy and/or distribute the materials. Some CDs and DVDs may not be reproduced due to a proprietary or copyright guard and different region code.
