| John Marshall Law School - Atlanta recognizes that a Juris Doctor education is a major expense in most family budgets. We have worked diligently with the Department of Education and the Department of Veterans Affairs to ensure funding for all qualified students.
IMPORTANT / RECENT INFORMATION
The Department of Education has given approval for John Marshall Law School - Atlanta to award Title IV federal aid. Aid will be awarded beginning fall 2005. The Title IV school code for John Marshall Law School - Atlanta is: G31733.
THE FINANCIAL AID PROCESS
- The first step in receiving financial aid is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
- Within 2 to 3 weeks, John Marshall Law School-Atlanta will receive the application and review the student's file to determine what outstanding information is needed to complete the application. (i.e., Has the online entrance exam been completed?) A financial aid officer will contact those students whose financial aid files are incomplete and explain the steps necessary and information needed for completing the financial aid file.
- Upon the completion of the student financial aid file, an award notification letter will be generated by the Law School and mailed to the student's address. The award notification letter details the amount and type of loan the student has qualified for (i.e., subsidized vs. unsubsidized).
- After the student receives the award notification letter, a list of preferred lenders is available on the John Marshall Law School website. Students may select a lender from this list or choose one from another source and complete the lender paperwork necessary for their Stafford and/or Alternative loans.
- Usually within one to two business days after the lender paperwork is completed, including the Promissory Note, the lender will request a certification of the loan from the Financial Aid Office.
Student Loan Refunds
If a student expects a refund after their student loan monies have been applied to their outstanding charges with the Law School, a completed Refund Request Form must be submitted to the Student Service's Office in order for the refund to be generated. Refund checks will be available in the Student Service's Office on Tuesdays and Fridays and a photo ID is required to pick up the refund check.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding financial aid, please contact the Office of Financial Aid, Monday through Friday 9:00am until 6:00pm at (404) 872-3593, ext. 255.
