Career Highlights

Professor Gogley is Legal Counsel, Commercial, Trade & Information Governance as well as a certified computer forensic examiner at Novelis Corporation in Atlanta, Georgia.  Susan has worked for Novels Corporation, and its predecessor, Alcan Aluminum Corporation for the past 22 years with a focus on Corporate Governance, International Trade, Commercial Contracts, Information Governance and eDiscovery.  Susan has responsibility for working on US Anti-dumping / counter-veiling duties cases, responding to the government through its various 332, and 232 investigations.  Susan also works with both the Aluminum Association and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to create policy positions on various free trade agreements.  Susan is a key partner to Novelis’ internal Trade and Compliance team leading ongoing participation in CTPAT and PIP, along with other strategic trade initiatives.

Additionally, she is responsible for both the global records retention and eDiscovery programs, Susan operates a forensic lab for all HR investigations and IS cybersecurity investigations, eDiscovery requests, compliance with internal policies regarding Electronically Stored Information and international data privacy regulations.  Susan works with the FBI, Secret Service and the Department of Homeland security on a variety of electronic crimes, cyber security incidents and insider threat programs.

Since 2015, Susan is also an adjunct professor at Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School teaching a course on eDiscovery and Computer Forensics and another course on Cyber Security and Data Privacy.

Starting in 2023, Susan will also teach skills based courses on AJMLS for both eDiscovery and Privacy.

Outside the Classroom

Professor Gogley is on the advisory board of the Association of Certified eDiscovery Specialists (ACEDS). ACEDS is the World’s leading organization for training and certification in e-discovery.
Professor Gogley is also on the Board of Directors for Outer Circle Foundation. Outer Circle Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit foundation supporting multiple service groups and purposes such as Veterans and First Responders. Currently, Outer Circle Foundation’s mission is to assist in working diligently to help get people out of Afghanistan. 100% of donations are being used to support its efforts to get people out of Afghanistan. Donations are also used to provide help with relocating and to provide basic essentials to refugees.
Professor Gogley is married with a 15 year old son and 10 year old daughter. She enjoys traveling, spending time with her three dogs, and adventurous shenanigans with her husband.
