Career Highlights

Hadiya C. J. Claxton, Esq. is an attorney-at-law who is the Founder and Managing Member of The Claxton Firm LLC.  Prior to establishing The Claxton Firm LLC, Hadiya worked at King & Spalding LLP for many years.

Hadiya represents large corporations and small businesses in their day to day transactions and business needs including general contract negotiations, contract drafting, business counseling, dispute resolution and settlement negotiations.  She has extensive experience in complex real estate matters and represents clients involved in a wide range of real estate transactions, including leasing, acquisition, development and disposition of office buildings, industrial properties, apartment projects and other mixed-use developments.  She has represented borrowers and lenders in connection with mortgage and mezzanine financings and other loan transactions.  She also has a thriving entertainment practice as she represents clients involved in television shows, the music industry, book publishing deals and other areas of entertainment.

Hadiya received a Bachelor of Arts degree, summa cum laude, from Spelman College in 1999 and a Doctor of Law degree from Harvard Law School in 2002.  During her academic career, she received numerous honors, including membership in Phi Beta Kappa and the Golden Key International Honour Society and listings on the National Dean’s List.  Hadiya has been featured twice in Who’s Who in Black Atlanta, 2007 and 2009 editions.  She also enjoys engaging in community service activities and was proud to serve on the Board of Directors of a DeKalb County charter school for many years.
