The 11th Annual Bobby Lee Cook Practical Legal Symposium will be held on Friday, April 4, 2014, from 1-3 p.m. in the Blackburn Conference Center. The symposium will include a panel on practical legal issues. This year’s panelists include: Frank Strickland, Jack Slover, Anita Wallace Thomas, and John Kitch.
Mr. Strickland is the founding partner of Strickland Lewis Brockington, practicing in the fields of education law and election law. He served as Chairman of the Legal Services Corporation from 2003-10. He has been a member of the Board of Governors of the State Bar of Georgia since 1985, president of the Atlanta Bar Association, and a member of the Governor’s Judicial Nominating Commission, in addition to numerous other positions of civic and legal profession leadership.
Mr. Slover, is a partner in Slover Prieto Marigliano Holbert, following years as a name partner in the state-wide firm Hall, Booth, Smith and Slover. He has tried more than 350 cases to verdict in both state and federal courts. His trial experience has encompassed a wide variety of subjects, but his practice concentrates in professional negligence and catastrophic injury cases.
Ms. Wallace is a partner at Nelson Mullins, one of the prominent law firms in the Southeast. She has been the Chair of the Georgia Board of Bar Examiners, a board member of the National Association of Women Lawyers, and a member of the Board of Visitors of the Mercer Law School, in addition to other offices of extensive community service and leadership. She has served as lead counsel in more than 50 jury trials, and has served as counsel in the complicated Multi-District Litigation cases.
Mr. Kitch has been a sole practitioner in Nashville, Tennessee, for much of his career and has recently become Of Counsel to the Nashville firm, Cornelius & Collins. He is a former president of the Nashville Bar Association, and has been an active member of various Tennessee Bar Association sections and programs. In 1997 the American Bar Association named him the Sole practitioner of the Year, the first year the award was presented. He has successfully represented clients in a broad range of general practice matters during his career.
