Judge Geronda V. Carter - Superior Court of Clayton County

Superior court is Georgia’s general jurisdiction trial court. The court has exclusive, constitutional authority over felony cases, divorce, equity and cases regarding title to land. The superior court corrects errors made by lower courts by issuing writs of certiorari; for some lower courts, the right to direct review by the superior court applies. Externs will work with the judge and the judge’s staff on a variety of tasks and assignments. Specifically, students will research legal matters and draft legal and bench memoranda. Interested students must submit a resume, cover letter, writing sample and transcript. Successful completion of a legal research and writing course is required.
