Clayton County Superior Court-Judge Albert Collier

Placement Description:

Superior court is Georgia’s general jurisdiction trial court. The court has exclusive, constitutional authority over felony cases, divorce, equity and cases regarding title to land. The superior court corrects errors made by lower courts by issuing writs of certiorari; for some lower courts, the right to direct review by the superior court applies.

Description of Student Work:

Research legal issues on domestic, civil and criminal cases.  Prepare memos/orders for judges consideration. Examine divorce cases to determine if case is ready for final judgement. Be responsible for research and preparation of order for judge on motion for summary judgement in civil cases, observe argument, research and prepare orders for judge on criminal motions.
