Gwinnett Sexual Assault & Children's Advocacy Center

Placement Description:
GSAC-CAC helps sexual assault victims in Gwinnett, Rockdale and Forsyth counties by providing free civil legal assistance related to sexual assault. GSAC-CAC is a 24-7 facility that provides advocacy, crisis intervention, forensic medical services and legal assistance.

Description of Student Work:
Advise and represent victims of sexual assault in obtaining temporary protective orders. Students will be directly involved in the TPO protective orders. Students will be directly involved in the TPO process, from drafting the initial order to representing the client in court. Students will also learn about other civil legal remedies for sexual assault victims.

Student Preference:
Students eligible for 3rd year practice may apply.

Course and other requirements:
We prefer students have taken evidence, criminal procedure and trial advocacy

Semester Participation:
We accept 3rd year students for the TPO externship in fall and spring. If there is interest, we are open to a summer internship. We also have a paid summer internship open to rising 2L and 3L students.
