Externship - Approved Placements

Georgia Tech Athletic Association

The Georgia Tech Compliance Office assists the Athletic Association in its efforts to comply with the rules of the Institute, the Atlantic Coast Conference and the National Collegiate Athletic. Student(s) will work a minimum of 8-10 hours per week in the office of the Georgia Tech Athletic Department. The student(s) will be assigned work dealing with two distinct categories. First, the student(s) will make sure that Georgia Tech complies with ACC and NCAA rules. This will include, but not limited to, reviewing the actions of the university, coaching staff and players to make sure there are no violations of ACC and NCAA rules. Second, the student(s) will help with administrative policies. This will include, but not limited to, helping modify the current player coaches' policy manual and reviewing vendor contracts. By the end of the externship, the student(s) will have a firm grasp on the rules and regulations that Universities must comply with and a firm understanding of the internal policies of Universities dealing with student athletics. Note: The student(s) will be allowed to attend some sporting events during the course of the externship, in order to get a complete understanding of sports law. Requirements for the externship: Preference is given to students who have completed Contracts and have at least a 2.3 G.P.A.
