Dekalb County Juvenile Court Public Defender's Office

The DeKalb Juvenile Court Public Defender's Office represents children charged with delinquent and status offenses, whose families are unable to afford legal counsel to represent them. Interns assigned to the Juvenile Court Public Defender's Office handle a variety of tasks, assisting attorneys and investigators with the following: facilitating office administration (file management, document handling); preparing trial preparation reports; assisting with interviewing children and potential witnesses; visiting schools, institutions and detention facilities; and interacting with juvenile court personnel, law enforcement, social workers, therapists and other professionals in the field.
