Join AJMLS and the Office of Student Servic es for its first Professionalism Series event of the academic year titled\ , “What it Means to be a Professional” featuring Chief Judge John J. Ellin gton. Ellington will discuss mistakes commonly made by new lawyers and wha t judges expect of lawyers who appear before them. He will also explain ho w to establish and maintain a reputation in the community for being a repu table and competent practitioner and the consequences of failing to do so. Strong emphasis will be placed on maintaining professionalism in an era o f social media and the importance of adopting standards of professionalism in while in law school.
\nThe event\, which is mandatory for all fi rst-year day and part-time evening students\, will be held from 6-7 p.m.\, on September 27\, 2012 at the Blackburn Conference Center.
